Frequently
Asked Questions

Questions we often asked

  • What happens during a massage therapy session?

Your Registered Massage Therapist begins with a short health history and a conversation about the areas giving you trouble, then agrees a plan with you before treatment starts. You are professionally draped throughout, only the area being worked on is uncovered, and you stay in control of the pressure at every point.

  • What type of massage is right for me?

It depends on what you want from the session. Swedish and relaxation massage suit stress and general tension, deep tissue targets chronic tightness and adhesions, and sports massage supports training and recovery. Tell your therapist your goal at the start and they will recommend the approach, often blending techniques within a single session.

  • Is deep tissue massage painful?

Deep tissue work uses firm, slow pressure, which should feel intense but stay within a range you can breathe through comfortably. Pain is not the goal and it is not a sign the treatment is working, so speak up any time and your therapist will ease off. Mild soreness for a day or two afterwards is common.

  • How long does a massage therapy session last?

We offer 30, 45, 60, and 90 minute sessions. Sixty minutes suits most people, while 30 minutes works well for a single focused area such as neck and shoulders, and 90 minutes gives room for full-body work.

  • How often should I have massage therapy?

For an acute problem, weekly or every second week at the start tends to bring the fastest progress, spacing out as symptoms settle. For general maintenance and stress, most people find every four to six weeks keeps them comfortable. Your therapist will suggest a rhythm based on how you respond.
