Understanding the therapy

Acupuncture is a traditional therapeutic practice that involves inserting very fine needles into specific points on the body. Modern acupuncture care may be used as part of a broader approach to managing pain, muscle tension, and wellbeing.
The goal is to provide thoughtful, individualized care that supports comfort, movement, relaxation, and your overall recovery journey.

Questions we often asked
After an assessment of your symptoms and health history, your practitioner places sterile, single-use needles at specific points on the body. You then rest quietly for 15 to 25 minutes while the needles stay in place, and most people find this part deeply relaxing. The needles are removed and safely disposed of at the end.
Acupuncture needles are about as fine as a strand of hair, nothing like the hollow needles used for injections or blood tests. Most people feel a brief tap as one is placed, followed by a dull heaviness, warmth, or tingling around the point, which is the response we are looking for.
It is most commonly used for pain and muscle tension, headaches and migraines, stress and sleep difficulties, digestive complaints, and recovery after training or injury. Acupuncture often works best alongside the other treatments in your plan rather than on its own.
Your first appointment runs 45 to 60 minutes to allow time for a full assessment. Follow-up sessions are typically 30 to 45 minutes, which includes the 15 to 25 minutes you spend resting with the needles in place.
Acupuncture is usually given as a short course rather than a single visit, and four to six weekly sessions is a common starting point. Recent or acute problems often respond faster, while long-standing ones take longer. Your practitioner reviews your progress as you go and adjusts the plan.
Change begins with a single conversation. You don’t need to have all the answers right now.
